Warts

A wart, also known as a verruca, is a benign skin lesion caused by a virus called the Human Papillomavirus. Warts can occur anywhere on the skin, but those that appear on the soles of the feet are known as plantar warts.

Typically, warts appear as small, raised lesions on the skin and can often develop black spots or streaks within the center. If left untreated, warts can grow larger and can eventually become quite painful to touch or walk on.

Because warts are caused by a contagious skin virus, these lesions can spread to other parts of the body, or to other individuals. The best way to prevent a wart is to keep your feet clean, and avoid walking barefoot in communal areas where other people walk barefooted, such as gym showers or around swimming pools.

If you think you have a wart, it is best to have the lesion evaluated and treated by a doctor. Most over-the-counter wart medications are ineffective and can cause harm if used improperly.

Our office offers a rapid and painless wart removal treatment, which does not require surgery, uncomfortable injections, or freezing. Schedule an appointment with any of our doctors and we will get you back on your feet in no time!
